Sending an SMS via the Tall Bob platform is super simple. There are the basic components:
Optional components:
A landing page
A single webpage that you can direct your recipients to via a link in the SMS. This must be created before sending.
Video
A landing page may contain a video, this is to be uploaded to the platform before sending.
Required components:
SenderID
The senderID is who the SMS will appear to be "from". This can be a phone number or a character string.
Message content
This is what your SMS will say. If you would like to direct your recipients to a landing page, you must include the link. See below for an example of how to do this.
Recipients
This is who you are sending your SMS to. It may be a single contact, or a list.
Campaign name
Naming your campaign makes it easier to track within analytics.
Creating the SMS
SMS are prepared within the Campaign builder. That can be found under Distribution -> SMS -> SMS Message
The first tab of the campaign builder will display your landing pages and videos. If you would like to use a landing page, click on it to select it. You will notice a green tick, indicating that it has been selected. Repeat with your video if using.
Once complete, click next to add your SenderID and message content. If you are using a landing page, you will need to insert the page URL. The button to do this is highlighted below.
Once complete, you are ready to add your recipients. Click next to go to the contacts tab.
You may type the name of your contact into the "individuals" field, and select them, or you can add in a mobile number (in 614xx format). You may also select a list to send to, though this will need to be created within contact management first. Remember to add a campaign name, this may be anything you like, but sticking with a naming convention is helpful.
If you would like to schedule your SMS to be sent at a later date, tick the "send at specific time" box, and choose a date in the selector.
Once you have reviewed all of the information given, you are ready to send your SMS. If you would like to continue building your SMS at a later date, you may save it as a draft. Otherwise, you can click send, and if anything is wrong, the Campaign Builder will alert you to the problem.
