Email Authentication
To improve your deliverability, Tall Bob automatically authenticates the customer’s campaign with DKIM and ensures customer’s emails will pass SPF checks.
Authentication is a sender identification tool that protects email senders and their recipients from spam, forgery, and phishing.
Why Authentication Matters
Authentication is critical to the delivery of a customer’s campaign and works like a license plate for email. It provides a trackable identifier that shows your subscriber's internet service provider you're a legitimate sender, and it helps the campaign arrive in the inbox.
There are two important types of authentication to consider when sending a bulk email:
- DomainKeys Identified Mail ( DKIM )
- Sender Policy Framework ( SPF ).
Custom Domain Authentication
If the customer would want to use their own email domain, Tall Bob recommends the customers to set up their own DKIM and SPF authentication.
This way, Tall Bob will be permitted to display the customer’s domain information in their email header, which can help improve their delivery rates and make their campaigns look more professional.
To do this, the customer would need to make a few changes in their DNS records, so they may want to ask their website manager or domain registrar for help.
Need For Custom Authentication
Before the customer authenticates their domain to use in Tall Bob, review these questions to make sure it's a good fit:
- Is your From email address associated with your email domain, rather than a public webmail address like gmail.com or http://hotmail.com ?
- Are you or your IT team able to access your domain's cPanel or Zone editor?
- Do your delivered campaigns show "on behalf of" or "via" in the sender details section?
If the answer to all or most of the above questions is ‘Yes’, that customer is eligible for custom authentication.
If the answer to all or most of the above questions is ‘No’, that customer can continue using Tall Bob’s default authentication that's already set up on their account.
