Opting out of future SMS

Your contacts have the option to opt-out of receiving your messages via a link on your landing page or within the SMS.

When they do, their mobile number is added to the ‘Opt-out’ list. This means an SMS cannot be sent to that number from your account (Account wide, not User Specific).

Go to Contacts -> Manage Opt-Outs to manage your Opt-outs.

Adding Contacts to Opt-out List

Contacts who Opt-out after receiving an SMS Campaign will automatically be added to the Tall Bob Opt-out list. However, if your contact has requested to be Opted-out outside of the Tall Bob system, they can be manually added to this list.

To add a contact to your Opt-out list, click the icon on the Manage Opt-out page. Fill in the mobile number you would like to add, then click

Your newly Opted-out contact will appear within the table below (you may have to search for them).

Uploading Contacts via Excel or CSV

To upload a CSV or Excel file to add multiple contacts to ‘Opt-out’ list, click Icon

Click A picture containing logo

Description automatically generated and upload your file via file browser, or drag the file into the dashed line seen above. If it is loaded correctly, you will see a preview of your data.

Skip the first line of data – If your table has a header row, you should enable this option; else you will be adding a mobile of ‘PhoneNumber'.

Country prefix - This is important. Mobile numbers need to have the appropriate country code prefix. The best way to do this is with a separate upload for each region, and setting the appropriate country code with each upload.

When the above details are correct, click A picture containing logo

Description automatically generated.

And we're done! Your contacts should appear within the ‘Sms Opt Outs’ table.

Exporting Contacts as Excel or CSV

To export the Opt-outs, click

Provide your email address and click . You will receive an email with a download link using which you can download the contacts as Excel or CSV.

How to remove a contact from the Opt-out list?

There may be a situation where a contact from your Opt-out list would like to Opt-in and receive communications from you. To allow this, you must remove their Opt-out record.

  • Delete a single number to remove a single contact from the Opt-out list click on the icon next to the number.

  • Delete all numbers Use With Caution This will delete all of the mobiles in the Opt-out list. To remove all the contacts from the Opt-out list click on the icon.

Select the option that you want to choose for removing contacts from Opt-out list and click on the  button.

Note: The above scenarios also apply for managing Opted-out email addresses.
